  SIERRA SEAPLANES

Terry Campbell:

Terry is manager and Chief Instructor of Sierra Seaplanes, Inc. and has been flying floats in the Sierra foothills for the past 12 years. Prior to this, Terry lived in Sonoma, California where she learned to fly at the Sonoma Skypark. Terry received her seaplane training in both Sausalito and Alaska and has accumulated over 5,500 hours; of which, 3,500 are in seaplanes. During this period she has also acquired numerous ratings, was appointed a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE), and volunteers as a FAASTeam representative to promote seaplane safety.

Her experiences have given her an extensive knowledge of the local lakes in the California foothills: including the lower elevation reservoirs for the more novice pilot and the higher, more challenging alpine lakes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

In addition to seaplane instruction, Terry enjoys working with animals-primarily dog fostering and as a volunteer at a local elephant sanctuary. Overall, Terry’s personality and teaching style is upbeat, supportive, and–most of all–fun!

Ray Arceneaux:

With over 12,000 hours of flying experience, Ray is a Gold Seal CFI, MEI, CFII and NAFI Master CFI.  He has an ATP certificate with type ratings in the EMB-135 & BE-1900, and an SIC type rating in the HU-16/G-111–the Albatross flying boat!

Ray recently retired from a large Silicon Valley corporation, where he served as a corporate jet/turbo-prop Captain. Ray is now pursuing his life long interest in seaplanes and flight instruction.

Ray has been teaching pilots to fly seaplanes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the San Joaquin & Sacramento River Deltas for over 8 years.

In addition to multiengine seaplane training, Ray is the manager and Chief Instructor at Norcal Seaplanes, a single-engine seaplane training operation.
